Last weekend, Jaime organized tickets for the last Whitecaps game before the soccer USL division playoffs, against the Portland Timbers. We joined Jaime and Robyn for an afternoon of soccer at Swangard Stadium on Sunday: fantastic weather, a large crowd (for the Whitecaps, anyway), and a pretty fun game to watch.
There were a couple of spectacular misses, a few injuries, and a couple of yellow cards handed out by referee Silviu Petrescu.

Unfortunately, the score at the end of the game was the same as at the beginning!
In any case, the Whitecaps were 7th in their USL division at the end of this season, but made it to the playoffs and I think the first match they played was yesterday, also against Portland, who are 2nd in the division - and I hear the Whitecaps won, 1-0.
I don’t think we’ll go again any time soon though - the experience really didn’t compare to watching soccer (oh pardon me, football) in Scotland. The caliber of play and the famous players and the excitement of watching with 60,000 other people … European games are on a whole other level.
