Boqueria, yum yum!

Before picking up our car for the drive to el Bulli, we spent Friday morning at La Boqueria, the famous market just off Las Ramblas. We wandered around for a bit admiring the fresh fruit to go (dragon fruit in 2 colours here):

… and iberico ham (about 70 euros for a leg, should you have enough room in your luggage for one):

We got there early enough to score great seats at Pinotxo, one of the best tapas bars in the market. People-watching here was great, and we enjoyed the excellent fresh food and coffee followed by cervezas when the clock started creeping towards noon.

The bar staff is amazingly coordinated for working in such a small space and it was fun to watch their interaction with customers, both tourists and locals. We tried to go back to Pinotxo a couple of days later but it was the weekend and you couldn’t get within 10 feet of the counter, so definitely go early in the morning and/or on a weekday.
