South Africa!

Only one more day of school this semester, and then we’re off to South Africa for most of December!
The trip details have been finalized, and let’s just say it’ll be crazy! We’re taking the Air France red-eye via Paris to Johannesburg, and then travelling like mad within South Africa. We’ll be using every kind of transportation possible, from an overnight train to a short-hop flight, a ferry and an overnight bus. We’ll be staying in cheap accommodation, from tents in Kruger Park to hostels/pensions. And we’ll be enjoying the sun and warm weather in Johannesburg, Cape Town, the winelands, Port Elizabeth and Jeffrey’s Bay!
I’m a little nervous about the trip - it’s hard to know what to expect with so much conflicting information about the safety of travelling in South Africa right now. I’m also not sure I can live for 3 weeks out of my small backpack (you mean I have to wash my clothes in the sink?
