So far so good. I’ve been here 3 days now, and spent most of it eating and hanging out with grandparents and my aunt. I tried, unsuccessfully, to buy a local SIM card for my cell phone – it turns out it’s locked to Vodafone UK, and I need to unlock it somehow. I think it involves downloading some firmware and updating the phone, but I’m not sure. The Vodafone/Connex store here wouldn’t do it for me.
I’m hoping my departure on Sunday will go ok. The Francophonie Summit is taking place in Bucharest this week and from what I’ve seen on TV, the main roads and especially the ones leading to the airport, have been closed to non-official traffic, to allow all the big-wigs through. They keep airing footage of the official Canadian plane, carrying Stephen Harper, parked on the tarmac at Henri Coanda Airport this morning.
Photos to come when I get back to Edinburgh… the “Net” (internet cafe) I am at right now doesn’t seem to have USB ports for my camera to upload photos, and I haven’t figured out how to email them to Flickr directly from my cell phone or camera.
Toodle-oo.
